Processing is a critical part of Physical Education (PE) because it helps students understand and reflect on their physical, social, and emotional experiences, which leads to better learning and improvement. Processing provides students with a chance to openly discuss their experiences—both positive and negative—during and/or after a lesson. This conversation can be incredibly valuable for the students and the teacher.
In our program, we post eight powerful words on the walls of our gymnasium. (See a video or all eight posters below in three colorful themes.)
Integrity
Sportsmanship
Perseverance
Respect

Teamwork
Mistakes
Effort
We believe that each of the 8 words plays a vital role in supporting the holistic growth of our students throughout their elementary school journey.
The eight power words displayed in our gym are frequently referred to during lessons when they feel relevant. After each lesson, during processing, our team often asks reflective questions like, “How did you demonstrate integrity during the game?” “Did anyone make a mistake today, and how can you learn from it?” or “Can you share an example of good sportsmanship you saw today?” These questions help reinforce the core values and encourage students to reflect on their actions and growth.
Do you want to brighten and liven up your space? Check out these 8 colorful POWER POSTERS in three different themes (24 total posters). Each poster can be printed 8.5 X 11 or 11 X 17.
